Description
Crystal Tuner Tuning Fork with Mallet
The Crystal Tuner Tuning Fork is tuned to 4096 Hz. This harmonic is the same frequency of quartz.
What is a Tuning Fork?
A tuning fork is also known as an acoustic resonator. When the tuning fork is struck, it produces several tones, but mostly, it’s the fundamental tone and harmonic that’s of primary concern. The tuning fork’s shape minimizes the harmonics and within a few seconds, only the fundamental tone can be heard. The tone a tuning fork makes is determined by the length of its prongs (or tines). The longer prongs vibrate slowly and produce a lower tone, whereas shorter tines allow them to vibrate faster, therefore producing a higher sound.
John Shore (1711) a British musician, is credited as the inventor of the tuning fork. Strong used his tuning fork as a standard to tune musical instruments, and we still follow this practise today. To date, advances in manufacturing now allow for a variety of extremely precise tuning forks as tone generators capable of measuring and identifying other sounds.
Tuning forks are not only used for tuning musical instruments but also used in medical, alternative and metaphysical practices.

About Our Tuning Forks
Our tuning forks are made from heat-treated, wrought aluminum alloy chosen for its strength, light-weight, and superior conductivity of sound waves. In addition, our forks have longer handles and shorter tines, providing proper balance.
Every tuning fork undergoes a special hand tuning process to ensure accuracy within + / – .25% range.
Because the metal is heat treated, it is tempered, increasing its strength. The metal will not fatigue over time, and the forks will maintain their frequency, even after years of use.
Each tuning fork sold includes a protective velvet pouch.
