Description

Tuning Fork Rubber Activator

The Tuning Fork Rubber Activator is the accessory of choice to strike your tuning fork for perfect resonation and sound. Its triangular shape allows the user to place the rubber activator on a flat surface, thereby keeping a hand free and unencumbered when using the tuning fork.

What is a Tuning Fork?

A tuning fork is also known as an acoustic resonator. When the tuning fork is struck, it produces several tones, but mostly, it’s the fundamental tone and harmonic that’s of primary concern. The tuning fork’s shape minimizes the harmonics and within a few seconds only the fundamental tone can be heard. The tone a tuning fork makes is determined by the length of its prongs (or tines). The longer prongs vibrate slowly and produce a lower tone, whereas shorter tines allow them to vibrate faster, therefore producing a higher sound.

John Shore (1711) a British musician, is credited as the inventor of the tuning fork. Strong used his tuning fork as a standard to tune musical instruments, and we still follow this practice today. To date, advances in manufacturing now allow for a variety of extremely precise tuning forks as tone generators capable of measuring and identifying other sounds.

Tuning forks are not only used for tuning musical instruments but also used in medical, alternative and metaphysical practices.

For example, we sell a Crystal Tuner Tuning Fork for clearing crystals.

Strike the Rubber Activator with the Tuning Fork
The Rubber Activator has the right degree of hardness for quality sound and won’t damage your tuning fork.

The Rubber Activator is the correct degree of soft/hard ratio, allowing for a perfect strike without damaging the tuning fork or interfering with the vibrations. Some people suggest using a hockey puck, but the rubber is too hard. For best results use the Tuning Fork Rubber Activator.

Although the Rubber Mallet Activator has its place, the Rubber Activator offers several benefits. For example, if you’re holding a crystal in the other hand, or using more than one tuning fork, it’s more convenient to strike the rubber activator placed on the table or desk.
